Working At My Living   Leave a comment

It was so fun working with Louise from Louise Stidham’s Photography studio Life Is Sweet.  She is awesome and made my time with her less like a job and more like a day out having fun!  Here are a few of my photos from that day.

If you want to use my photos for any respectable magazine or photo opt, just email me through this site and we can work something out.

Best,

Hallie

How Not To Lose Sight Of Your Goal   Leave a comment

1.  Never give up, never surrender…I just love the movie Galaxy Quest for giving me that phrase!

2.  Know your goal; but don’t assume you will reach it right away.

3.  Ask for help!  There are people out their willing to take on a needy cause…and remember that is what you are until you achieve your goal!

4.  Remember your mom and dad’s favorite catch phrase when you were growing up…”Practice makes perfect.”  As much as we hate to admit it, our parents were right on this one.  I delve into magazines and practice facial expressions, makeup placement, and poses…it’s sort of like play acting, but eventually you’ll have your own style.

5.  Blog.  Get yourself out there.  I have had several responses for modeling job (some I get paid for, some are a trade off of time for photos for my portfolio…which gives their studio exposure.  Pick your friends wisely.

6.  Don’t ever forget those who helped you along the way:

The generosity of the bloggers on WordPress have been just outstanding!  I appreciate each and everyone of you who have taken the extra few seconds to click on my Savvy link below and vote for me (or one of the other girls) and help make this possible for me!

I would like to send out a big THANK YOU to: http://sdliving.wordpress.com/ who took the time to look at my Savvy site and vote for me.  She also left me a nice comment, so I added her to my links list!

Now on with my blogging…

I blog because it is the only way I can market the contest I am in.  So far, it has worked marvelously for me!  I have gone from 656th place to 11th place!  I am hoping to get about 2000 more votes!

Hi, my name is Hallie and I have entered a Savvy Magazine photo shoot contest. I know you don’t know me but the winners are chosen by the public and if the public doesn’t know they need to vote…well, you guessed it, no one votes! Could you take a moment and look at my photos and decide if you would vote for me or not?

There are over 1000 of us trying to get to those top ten positions.  If you don’t think I am top ten material scroll through the small icons to the right of mine and pick one of those ladies!  One little click of your finger can help make somebodies dream a reality!   You can vote once a day, everyday until January 1st!  Thank You!

I Am A Broken Record…I Can Be Fixed With Your Help   Leave a comment

I have been gently accused of lacking content…I am, if not consistent, a broken record on my ramblings to obtain your attention and votes!

Hi.  I’m Hallie. My dad raised me to be competitive, compassionate, and conservative.  Sometimes those three butt heads with each other, but they usually find a really level ground to play together on.  I am in college studying to become a Dental Hygenist; but my passion is modeling.

So, let me tell you how I went from being a 100% tomboy to the semi-girlie girlie/semi-tomboy I am today.

From the time I can remember my brother and I competed with each other.  For example, who could throw the farthest, who could run the fastest, who could spit the farthest, etc.  Are you seeing a trend here?  They were all guy things.  And my dad nurtured this competitive atmosphere between my older brother and myself.  When I was five years old I ran my first 5K and finished first in the 14 and under age division.  By the time I was 12, my dad and I had ran 5K’s (I have forgotten how many, that’s how many I have ran), played baseball, swam in competition swim meets (breaking county records in free-style), banged up my go-kart (actually demolished it into a tree in our yard…mom’s nightmare), crashed my mini-bike sevvvveeerrrallll times, and built a dirt-box derby car with my dad.

Then I turned 13.  My mom had seen enough of her daughter being her second son.  I came home from school one day and walked into my bedroom.  It was painted lavendar with huge soft yellow stripes going down the walls.  The one wall that slanted was yellow, with lavendar polka dots.  It was actually pretty cool looking.  But girlie.  Then, I opened my armoire and screamed!  No boy jeans.  No plaid flannel shirts.  In their sacred places hung, gulp, little skirts from Aeropostale.  Tops to match the skirts.  Girlie shoes.  I about fainted.  Then I looked at my dresser…make-up!  Okay, I could play with that.

So, I trudged onto the school bus the next morning in my girlie clothes and by that night our phone didn’t stop ringing with boys wanting to talk to me.  Dad’s nightmare!  That next year I was a Cheerleader, homecoming princess nominee, and well on my way to converting to the world of girls!  Which brings me to today.

Right now, I have entered a Savvy Magazine photo shoot contest. I know you don’t know me but the winners are chosen by the public and if the public doesn’t know they need to vote…well, you guessed it, no one votes! Could you take a moment and look at my photos and decide if you would vote for me or not? Thanks! Here’s the link, could you pass it along?

And by the way, there are over 1000 of us trying to get to those top ten positions.  I would urge you, if you don’t think I am top ten material, to scroll through the small icons to the right of mine and pick one of those ladies!  One little click of your finger can help make somebodies dream a reality!  Thank You!
